That Little Inspiration

It was a cold, foggy evening; the air I was breathing out would come out as a fading white fog which would swirl and twirl among itself making it a treat to watch for the eye of the observer. I was feeling part nostalgic, part reflective; part cold. Cold does this to me for some reason, makes me go over the little things in life. At almost 21 years of age I feel powerful; I am in the prime time of my life. I can run, I can jump, the cold doesn' bother me, in short I will never be more productive in my life than I am NOW.

There will come a time when climbing stairs too fast would kill me so what do I do now? How do I use the prime time of my life? Of-course studies are at the epitome of importance for most of us right now but then someday my kid will be 21 and he is going to ask me What were you like dad; when you were of my age? And its going to feel a little awkward to say; "I just used to study." I personally want to have a long story as an answer to that question.

My friend is involved with some NGO. I once asked him; "what is it with you? every week you are like gone for a couple of hours? Does this do you any good? What do you do with your NGO anyway?" An optimist would argue that its just a couple of hours in a week. But being the pessimist I am; I could not help asking. He kept quiet for a moment; probably pondering over the answer and then suddenly he says,"Every week for 2 hours I try to change the world; I try to set the things like I want them to be, I am no longer looking at the hungry and pitying them, I am feeding them." Now isn't that a wonderful way to look at things? His answer shook me, something ticked inside me and I was a changed man from then on.

Every one of us needs a little inspiration to come out of the shell and explore our horizons, to come out of our safety zone and start living to the fullest, to the happiest. That conversation was my little inspiration and let this blog post be YOURS. Lets make a difference to the earth coz' everybody can make money but everybody can't make a difference. The skeptic would again argue; what difference will I be able to make alone. As an answer to that I am going to refer you to the 'starfish story'. Have you heard it? Well; if you haven't stay tuned for the next blog post.
